Of course both sections of the corps started the afternoon by warming up. The hornline played their exercises in the open air, while the drumline warmed up in the sports hall. With the recent Christmas concert fresh in their memories, the hornline’s warmup was again a cold experience. All they can do is hope that the Netherlands will heat up a little in the next few weeks.

Then, finally, the time came to put the opener in ensemble. The corps formed the well-known arc and received some informational talk from drum major Bas. Then the members went to work. Fragment by fragment the show was put together. All sections of the corps were well focused and huge progress was made. At 5:00pm all parts of the movement had been covered and it was time to play a full run of the piece for the very first time.

At the end of the day the drumline and the hornline showed each other what they had been working on. The brass played Movements 2 and 3 of the show and the battery ended the afternoon playing cadences. After that, all instrument were quickly packed up and many members headed for Almere to support Beatrix’ Winterguard with their awesome show The Magic Lane”.

All in all this was a very productive day and all members and staff worked very hard. On Saturday, February 2nd Movement 2 of ‘WICKED’ will be put into ensemble. This will take place in the corps hall, since the piece will be played by the hornline and front ensemble only. Movement 3 will be put into ensemble for the first time on February 20th from 12:30pm until 4:30pm in sports hall ‘De Meent’ in Hilversum.
