BEATRIX' 23-02-2010
Trainers, Socks, slippers and all other ensemble gear were brought along at the first ensemble rehearsal of Movement III last Saturday.

Not all sections of the corps had been able to spend enough time to learn their parts up to the right standard, but nevertheless the entire piece was played at 16:00.

For the second time this season the entire band-section of the corps set out to sports hall ‘De Meent.’. This time the truck was able to bring the equipment there. This was a premiere this season, as the truck and trailer have undergone heavy maintenance.

After an hour-long warm-up session the ensemble could finally begin. Under the lead of Henk Rosendal the piece was put together fragment by fragment. The Wednesday before, the drumline had put the piece into sectional ensemble for the first time. Movement III contains the show’s main drum break and the parts proved to be quite challenging.

The pit unfortunately did not have their complete scores yet. Their arranger was, however, present and with his help they were able to play the first 40 bars and get as far as possible. The hornline worked hard under the instruction of Rob Balfoort in the past two weeks, who helped them interpret the music so they can now play it the right way.

By the end of the afternoon the entire movement was played in ensemble. Everyone was anxious to hear what Movement III would sound like. The tempo changes went well and the different sections of the corps cooperated very well to make the piece work. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the members put in a lot of effort and made this a very successful afternoon.

The first ensemble rehearsal of Movement IV will be held on Saturday, March 6th from 11:30 until 15:30 in sports hall ‘De Meent’ in Hilversum.
