Kids in the Band is for all children in the third grade of primary school who are 6 years or older on October 1st (of the relative calendar year) who want to experience in a fun way what it is like to make music.

The first goal of Kids in the Band is to introduce children in a fun way to different aspects of music: listening, moving, singing, writing and playing. In the second period we also focus on time signatures, rhythm, dynamics, reading skills and more. We conclude by introducing the children to musical instruments that are also used by Jong Beatrix, and we teach them the basics of how to play them. In this way we have to a complete, fun and educational music project in which we also pay attention to working together, listening to each other, respecting each other and last but not least; having a great time.

The program will be taught in a year-long program in which the needs, interests and abilities of the children are all taken into account. The Kids in the Band program starts in August/September (depending on when the schools’ summer break ends) and lasts until September the next year. Kids in the Band get together every week on Friday evening, except during school holidays.

From the start of the program until the Christmas holiday (December) Kids in the Band will be given their first introduction to music. This includes various activities, from making musical instruments to singing songs and dancing on music. The period will conclude with a presentation for family and friends.
