BEATRIX’ AT DCN CONTEST HUIZEN![]()
Beatrix’ ended in third place in Huizen with a score of 68.1. This contest day was a busy day. The corps rehearsed from 9:00 until 16:00, before heading to the contest. During the rehearsal all movements of the show were practiced in large chunks; this made the members a lot more confident. The heat made this an exhausting day, but with numerous water breaks and with the contest in mind the corps gave its best all day long. The run at the end of the afternoon was fantastic; everyone pushed out their last reserves of energy. It was going to be an exciting night!

At 19:00 Beatrix’ gathered in the parking lot of the Wolfskamer. You could feel the distinct drumcorps atmosphere. The weather was great and percussion, guard, and brass groups were warming up in all corners. Some people remembered this feeling from when they were in America. Beatrix’ quickly got ready to warm up. All sections were relaxed and the members were very well focused. Tonight everyone was determined to bring a fantastic show to the field.
After the warm-up the corps regrouped at the truck. Scott Brown, arranger of the battery music who helped Beatrix’ this week, gave the members their final pep-talk before the corps entered the field. Beatrix’ was ready. The members were focused and ready go. During the dusty walk to the field a healthy dose of adrenaline built up. On to the field and Go!

Beatrix’ performed a stable show full of power. The feeling was right, lots of energy came off the field and Beatrix’ really performed. The audience was excited and rewarded the group with a standing ovation. Beatrix is back on the fields and has made her statement in Huizen.

After Jubal’s performance it was time for the retreat. Being the first DCN contest of the season this was an exciting one. As the presenter got closer to the top of the list, the members’ heart started pounding more heavily. But then the top three scores were less than 1.5 points apart. DCN managed to keep it very exciting. Beatrix scored 68.1 after Juliana with 68.75 and Jubal with 69.5. Let’s all work hard to compete again in Dordrecht for the Dutch Championship. Beatrix’ took home caption awards for best guard and best brass.
